    Bo Rua Farm

Bó Rua Farm in Ballynoe, County Cork is home to our family, the Dinneens, who have been dairy farming for generations. Our inspiration came from our unusual herd of Montbeliarde cows, also known as the ‘red cows’ (in Irish Bó=Cow, Rua=Red). The breed is renowned throughout the world for the exceptional quality of their milk. This alluring fact did not escape our attention and in 2015 we decided it was high time we made more use of our delicious milk and started cheese production. It had to be cheddar, Tom’s favourite, and so Bó Rua Farm cheddar was born.

Using our own traditional recipes, each cheese is handmade by us. We begin cheesemaking straight after morning milking, ensuring we use the freshest of milk straight from our much loved cows. In our first year of cheese production, the quality and flavour of our cheddar was recognised with a Bord Bia Irish Cheese Award. Along with our natural cheddar, we also produce two flavoured varieties, Cumin Seeds and Tomato & Herbs."
